Inspired by the the work of itinerant folk artists of the 18thc, Johanne decided to hand decorate the walls of her home and shop. Guests and customers asked her to create paintings for their homes. She paints to keep the "Spirit of America" alive in her work. Johanne accepts commissions for overmantels, folk art house portraits and large family village paintings. Farming Village was one of Johanne’s first Overmantels.It was inspired by the early works of itinerant painters. The original is 22” X 52”. A striking original piece painted on pressed wood and framed in a custom frame. The Artist designed the frame from pine and painted it with layers of milk paint. This signature piece is available on canvas for stretching and framing.
